GreenStar TV EP 03 – Blog Advertisements

Today’s episode was shot with answers to a question from Max over at DesignShard. Go check out Design Shard for some cool textures, design tips & inspiration. Plus, I’ve released a free texture set over there as well which did some pretty good download numbers :)

So in today’s episode I talk about blog advertisements – my own personal thoughts on do’s and don’ts for what advertisements should be used and what types of websites should be utilizing advertisements while others shouldn’t. It broke down into a pretty simple answer actually:

If your blog is made to attract clients, then you should have ZERO advertisements for other websites.

Your blog should be used to attract clients only. If your blog was created to gain a subscription base for RSS readers, Twitter followers and newsletter sign ups, I’d advise to only use a few ad’s. Keep it as “spam-free” looking as possible. If you’re just looking to make a quick buck, put up as many ads as you’d like.

So, in a nutshell, it really depends on what type of blog you’re running and what your end game is. What type of blog do you run? Are you following these rules on your blog? Drop me a comment and let me know.

Also, if you’ve got an idea for a new episode, feel free to let me know. I’m open to suggestions :) Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the episode.
